  1. Acts 13:4
So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

Small groups are a big deal. If your view of your small group is that it is optional, then you will not have what is needed to make it thrive. Turn your small group into a disciple-making greenhouse. For the past 26 years Joan and I have utilized our home as a place for ministry. We have fed, nurtured, prayed with and for countless numbers of folks who have gone on to effectively lead productive and life-giving small groups. One of the ways that we have done this is a simple formula that we have adopted and adapted through the years. It is Bring, Build, Send.

We believe that when a group starts, the objective is to bring individuals to Jesus. This begins in the community by building intentional relationships with unchurched people. We bring them to Christ. We also gather spiritually hungry folks to meet together on a weekly basis. Once a group has formed we are ready to move the collective body to phase two: Build.

We build others up by relating our lives to their lives and their lives to ours. We begin to share the joys and sorrows of life’s journey. We pour the word of God into the souls of men and women so that together we can be made whole. This leads to step three in the process.

We then send them out. Each believer is uniquely gifted by God to serve Him in the church and in the world. The group becomes a mission-sending center as it gathers in order to scatter into the market place with the grand news of Jesus’ love and forgiveness.

By bringing people in, building people up and sending people out we can change the environment locally and globally. It is not enough to encourage one another week after week. We must think strategically: Bring, Build, Send. If you will do this, and as the Holy Spirit leads you, you will see fruit that will not only last, it will multiply.
