    2 Timothy 2:2 (ESV)
And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

When I was seven years old, my sister, Vanessa, decided to teach me how to ride a bike. We went to a hill and she gave me a push. It was all fun until I realized that I did not know how to stop. Since the Your Next Step Retreat our lives have been a lot like that bike ridefast and seemingly unstoppable.

We started January gearing up for the Retreat, which went great by the way. YNSI graduate, Army Chaplain Michael Coleman shared about his transition from youth pastoring to military ministry. Roselyn Perez and Vera Gainforth, also YNSI folks, provided keen insights on how to reach internationals for Christ. Don Bulla, Dr. Stephen Boatwright, Pam Dewitt, and Joan Dorman each shared about Christs activity in the medical community. Ricardo Walker enlightened us on the need for church planting in France. Two of our board members, Don Bulla and Dr. Dusty Reynolds taught about Gods love for the whole world and I presented messages on Gods Kingdom Advance around the world.

Immediately following the Retreat we launched four new classes including our first Theology classes. One meets at 6:00 AM, we call this the BC group, Before Coffee. The second class meets during lunch. In the two classes we have a combined attendance of 15 adults. We started a class on Biblical Leadership with 18 students and I am teaching a college course on Comparative Religions with 20 students. So far in the religion class Ive interviewed an atheist, a Native American enthusiast and a Muslim.

Ive received multiple requests for preaching of late. Normally, my gifting and calling has been corporate teaching and individual evangelism. It seems a shift has occurred in the past month as people have professed Christ during my teaching sessions. This is a welcomed change that only God can bring about.

Finding the brakes in this downhill race has been a challenge. Im beginning to adjust to the pace and I have a couple of slow down periods coming soon. We are experiencing real fruit in studentslives and it is truly a thrill to be along for the ride. Unlike when I was seven, today I do know where the brakes are and I am gently applying them along the way and looking forward to some rest stops ahead. This is a busy season for Your Next Step and for the Dormans. Please pray for us as we seek to see where God is at work and to join Him. Thank you for supporting Your Next Step Ministries. Together we are making a difference.

    With much love and respect,

    Doug
